Tallowwood heartwood ranges from pale to dark yellow brown. The sapwood is usually almost white in colour.
Tallowwood is durability class 1 for both above and in-ground contact. It has a narrow band of sapwood that is resistant to lyctus attack.
Tallowwood is available unseasoned F14 and F17 and seasoned F27.
It machines and turns well and readily accepts paint, stain and polish.
Tallowwood can be used as sawn or round timber in wharf and bridge construction, Railway sleepers, cross-arms, poles, piles and mining timbers.
Tallowwood can be used unseasoned for general house framing, fascia and barge boards, fencing, landscaping and retaining walls and as seasoned timber for cladding, internal and external flooring, lining and joinery, indoor and outdoor furniture and parquetry.
Tallowwood is available in the following size range: 25, 38, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150mm in thickness and 25, 38, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275 and 300mm in width. Larger sizes may be available subject to size and quality of logs.
Lengths are from .9M up to 6.9M generally in .3M increments. If special sizes and lengths are required we may be able to source specific requirement (subject to confirmation).
